Manifesto

Slow content, small web and low tech are an alternative to the virtual apocalypse we are witnessing.

I'm in a process of rediscovering myself each day and recognizing the value of my work as a designer and artist. According to Pierre Levy, developers, designers and game creators are the artists of cyberspace. We are constructing virtual worlds everyday, like architects of the web, and that's why we got to stay together to create better digital places.

When I found Neocities, I realized I am not the only one who's unsatisfied with the internet nowadays and the multiple monopolies that are taking space. I miss the authenticity we used to have on 00's web, with a high amount of blogs and forums out there, where social media were tools to share and connect with other people, not information-holders. Social media are no longer about socializing, but about buying and selling ourselves, competing for relevance in an algorithm that feeds hate, fake news and sensationalism, because those are the most "engaging" behavior.

When being on internet became so tiring? We are no longer searching for stuff, exploring the vast variety of websites (literally navigating the web), but just receiving the explosion of sensorial stimulus without questioning. But I believe the cyberculture can give us freedom and technology can be used beyong capitalist interests.

I'm making my humble part in the mission of bringing back a more fun and expressive internet by creating this website and embracing other ones that shares values with me. Below you can check webrings, references and other manifestos that inspired me to be here. Thank you for reading. :)
